City of St. Charles, MO Hosts Discover St. Charles Video Platform on YouTube
St. Charles media staff use YouTube platform to communicate key messages to residents, business owners.

ST. CHARLES, MO, September 23, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Discover St. Charles is the city's video platform on YouTube. The Discover platform is a multimedia program designed for the web, mobile devices and broadcast television. Given the mission of the city's Media department is to keep residents, business owners and visitors in-the-know, this technology provides another layer in ensuring city communications are fresh and up-to-date.

Departmental updates are created on a weekly basis and uploaded to the city's Discover St. Charles YouTube page, where you can access the department information of your particular interest. Designed specifically for residents and business owners, Discover St. Charles offers easy access to:

These updates can also be viewed on your mobile device. Updates are then assembled in a playlist to create a full length program that is broadcast on the city's Media channel (990 or 108.2 if you are a Charter subscriber, or 99 for AT&T U-Verse customers); live and archived video can also be accessed from the Media Center on the city's website. You can also subscribe to the Discover St. Charles YouTube page in order to receive video updates and related bulletins directly via your email.

Using this format, all city departments have the opportunity to highlight key messages, including the operational units of Public Works, Police, Fire, Parks & Recreation, Tourism and Community Development. The city's Media staff has developed an easy-to-manage format so the Mayor, City Council and all support departments can upload content, as well. Support staff include: Administration, Human Resources, Information Technology, Finance, Legal, Economic Development and the City Clerk's Office.

Although other cities have used YouTube for communications purposes, St. Charles is the first city in the region to design a program specifically for the YouTube platform to highlight individual departments and offer direct subscriber updates via Smartphones and Android phones.
