CHARLESTON, SC, December 24, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Attorney Evan Guthrie of the Evan Guthrie Law Firm in Charleston, South Carolina helped with a wills clinic for first responders, including police, firefighters and EMS personnel on Saturday June 11th 2011 in Columbia SC at the South Carolina Bar Conference Center. The wills clinic was sponsored by the Young Lawyers Division of the South Carolina Bar.

The goal of the wills clinic is to provide estate planning documents for first responders and their families at no cost. The wills clinic project is in place to recognize and say thank you for the contributions that the first responders such as the state troopers, police officers, fire fighters, and EMS personnel make to protect everyone on a daily basis. Due to the inherent dangers associated with the jobs of the first responders it is important that they have basic estate planning documents in place such as a simple will, healthcare power of attorney, and a living will to protect their families.

There were a large number of first responders and family members that participated in the wills clinic that demonstrated the need for the program. It was a small price to pay to show gratitude to the first responders that put their lives on the line every day. Attorney Evan Guthrie was happy that he could help with the wills clinic and give back to the community directly and indirectly.
