Lieutenant Colonel Hillary A. Luton Recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Public Affairs
Ms. Luton has dedicated three decades to serving her country
SPRING LAKE, NC, December 29, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Hillary Luton, Lieutenant Colonel and Public Affairs Officer for the U.S. Army Forces Command, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in public affairs.
Lieutenant Colonel Luton has 29 years of service with the U.S. Army, and has spent the past three years as a public affairs officer with the U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM). In this position, she coordinates with subordinate commands on the operations, personnel staffing, training and equipment shortfalls and procurement for 20 public affairs units across the United States to prepare for deployment. She also assists with speech writing, public speaking, videography, photography and coordination with various departments within the command; all of which requires extensive research to ensure accuracy and consistency in messaging.
Her dedication to working with the soldiers and communities leaders has guided Ms. Luton throughout her career. She attributes her success to the leadership she has received from her strong peers, excellent mentors, and talented subordinates, who have all contributed to her success as a military officer.
Ms. Luton is pursuing an MBA in international management from Columbia Southern University. She holds a Bachelor of General Studies in communication from the University of Nebraska. She is a life-time member of the Association of the United States Army, Reserve Officers Association, VFW, a member of the Army Public Affairs Alumni Association and past member of The American Legion. Ms. Luton has received four Meritorious Service Medals; she has also been awarded an Army Commendation Medal and two Army Achievement Medals as well as numerous campaign medals.
She has also been recognized for her leadership in various roles to include a member of the Advance Party to move a major 4-Star headquarters to Fort Bragg, NC from Fort McPherson, GA, a volunteer at the Army 10-Miler, a volunteer and member of the Property Owner's Association in her community, the volunteer coordinator for Warriors on the Water - a non-profit organization, FORSCOM coordinator for the Combined Federal Campaign and several other events and organizations. Looking forward, she aspires to continue in public affairs in positions that will most benefit the Army and to give her opportunities to work with soldiers and the community.
