Dr. Lanagan provides Service Members and Veterans, who are wounded, ill or injured, with a single point of contact for assistance with reporting deficiencies in covered military facilities
ANNANDALE, VA, December 27, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Margaret 'Peg' Lanagan, Consultant and Military Severely Injured Specialist with the Wounded Warrior Center with Military OneSource, has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Military Health Support Services. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.
With six years experience as a Consultant and Military Severely Injured Specialist under MilitaryOneSource, Dr. Lanagan is responsible for assisting Service Members with post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury. Her other duties include assisting veterans over the phone to get the benefits they deserve and are being denied, for whatever reason. She notifies the appropriate person who has 96 hours to put together a plan of action to correct the deficiency in service or WWRC can escalate this failure to the designated person at the Department of Defense at the Pentagon. As a counselor and psychotherapist Dr. Lanagan has provided therapy to the military and their families during her 20 years of experience doing outpatient psychotherapy as well as 10 years in psychiatric inpatient hospitals. She also provides pro bono counseling to service members.
As an independent marketing executive with Melaleuca, Dr. Lanagan trains persons in the areas of wellness, environmental safety, physical fitness, and gaining financial independence.
Dr. Lanagan received a Ph.D. in counseling theory and research, with a concentration in college administration of counseling centers, at American University in 1979. Her MS in Pastoral Counseling was from Loyola University in 1990 and she now concentrates her education with workshops sponsored by the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and other organizations in areas of PTSD and TBI. She is a licensed professional counselor, a member of the International Association of Trauma Professionals and is pursuing a trauma specialist certification. Dr.Lanagan intends to continue counseling wounded service members and their families.
