New York Construction Accident Lawyer from The Perecman Firm Praises Police for Rescuing Crown Heights Maintenance Worker Left Hanging After Scaffold Collapse
New York construction accident lawyer David Perecman praises the NYPD for rescuing a worker after a New York scaffold accident outside a Crown Heights apartment building.
NEW YORK, NY, December 15, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A scaffold accident in Crown Heights, Brooklyn left a worker dangling perilously. The worker was fortunate to be rescued by New York Police Department officers before the New York scaffold accident became a fatal New York scaffold accident.
Patrick James, 43, was painting the third story of a building when his "makeshift scaffold" collapsed outside a Crown Heights apartment building, leaving him hanging from a rope 40 feet above the sidewalk, according to the New York Daily News (12/3/2011).
From the NYDN article, New York construction accident lawyers at The Perecman Firm learned the scaffold was a "jerry-rigged contraption consisting of a couple of boards tied to the building."
"The worker was very lucky the police were in the right place at the right time and able to rescue him immediately," said David Perecman, the former head New York construction accident lawyer for the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, and a lecturer on construction accident law.
Scaffolding accidents can occur for a number of reasons, but faulty scaffolding construction is one of the more common reasons.
"When choosing scaffolding, contractors and project managers must be sure not to put price before safety. Unsafe scaffolding can be more costly both economically and emotionally if there were to be an injury or death due to the faulty scaffolding in New York," construction accident lawyer Perecman said.
