New York Personal Injury Lawyer from The Perecman Firm Comments on the Likely Cause of Fatal New York Elevator Accident
New York personal injury lawyer David Perecman comments on the outcome of the Buildings Department investigation into the New York elevator accident that killed an advertising executive.

NEW YORK, NY, February 04, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Inspectors with New York City's Buildings Department determined that the elevator accident death of an advertising executive was connected to maintenance work, reported the New York Post (1/23/2012).

Repairs done by contractor Transel Elevator were likely "a contributing cause, or the cause," of the elevator accident, The New York Times said (1/23/2012).

"Apparently the fatal elevator accident accident could have been prevented if proper safety protocols were followed," said New York personal injury lawyer David Perecman, founder of the Perecman Firm, one of New York's personal injury law firms.

Robert LiMandri, the commissioner of the Buildings Department, told The New York Times that Transel did repair work on the elevator just before the December elevator accident.

According to The New York Times, the elevator accident in which Suzanne Hart was crushed to death led DOB inspectors to examine 650 elevators citywide in the biggest elevator probe in New York's history.

New York personal injury lawyers at The Perecman Firm understand Transel is facing another lawsuit connected to an elevator accident. The New York Daily News (1/5/2012) reported a fitness instructor claimed he was partially paralyzed after an elevator maintained by Transel suddenly dropped.

According to DNAinfo (1/17/2012), the New York elevator accident death "likely would have been prevented if elevator repairmen had not violated city rules by rushing the lift back into service without the required OK from the Department of Buildings."

"For a company like Transel, the first priority must be safety. By failing to follow city rules, the company unnecessarily put lives at risk, with tragic consequences," said New York personal injury lawyer Perecman.
